Director of Statutory Compliance
Nancy Cross joined the Mississippi Insurance Department in 1958 and has served 4 different Insurance Commissioners – Walter Dell Davis, Evelyn Gandy, George Dale and Mike Chaney. She is a 1958 graduate of Jackson Commercial College and a Certified Professional Insurance Woman (CPIW).
Mission
The Statutory Compliance Division is responsible for issuance of new and renewal licenses for all insurance companies, health maintenance organizations (HMOs), societies and associations doing business in Mississippi. The Division reviews corporate filings of foreign insurers and if in compliance with Mississippi laws and regulations, issues an amended license. Corporate transactions include: name/address, adding/deleting lines, agent for service of legal process, mergers, demutualizations, redomestications, conversions and assumptions.
The Division also is responsible for maintaining the corporate and computer records pertaining to licensed insurers, eligible non-admitted insurers, advisory organizations and historical data concerning all insurers who have ever been licensed by the Department.
