Director of Licensing
Vanessa Miller was officially named Director of Licensing Division by Commissioner Mike Chaney effective February 1, 2018.
Vanessa joined the Mississippi Insurance Department in December of 2008, previously working as a Financial Examiner, with the Financial and Market Regulation Division.
A Jackson Native, Vanessa holds a B.S. in Accounting from Mississippi College. She is an active member of the Society of Financial Examiners (SOFE), obtaining a Certified Financial Examiner (CFE) designation in 2011 and a current member of the Securities & Insurance Licensing Association (SILA).
Mission
The Licensing Division is responsible for licensing insurance producers, agents and business entities. The Division ensures that all applicants have complied with the licensing laws prior to receiving a license to engage in the business of insurance in the State of Mississippi. The Division’s primary goals are to provide prompt and efficient customer service, attain uniformity with other states and comply with the provisions of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.
