The Actuarial Division maintains information on Life, Accident and Health Insurance
Companies only. Form filings are submitted for approval. Rate filings are submitted for
review only. One year plus the current year are kept on file. HMO Actuarial Memorandums
and Medicare Supplement Actuarial Memorandums cannot be viewed by the public.
Individuals may request whether a certain form has been submitted for approval
or has been approved. The individual must be able to supply the form number of that
particular document and the date it was submitted by the company for review. Records are
kept by form number.
The Consumer Services Division maintains information on consumer inquiries and complaints.
Note: No distinction is made in MID company complaint files between complaints and
inquiries/requests for assistance. Therefore, such records do not reflect the number of complaints against the company. In addition, a company that
writes a large amount of business in the state will have more inquiries and complaints than a company that writes
a small amount of business.
In order to view closed complaint files, a consumer must contact Consumer Services in
advance and supply the name of the company to allow time for the requested closed files to
be pulled. Open complaint files are not available for public viewing, pursuant to the
Mississippi Public Records Act of 1983 .
In order to receive information on closed complaint files, the consumer must submit a
written statement requesting the information by specific company.
