Reggie Bell has served as the Mississippi State Fire Academy’s Executive Director since 2007. A veteran fire and emergency services educator, Reggie has taught and lectured in thirty-six states. He has served as an adjunct instructor to such prestigious institutions as: the National Fire Academy; the United States Fire Administration; the United States Department of Justice; the United States Attorney’s Office; Mississippi State University (School of Insurance); the University of Southern Mississippi (Criminal Justice); and Texas A&M University (Hazardous Materials). Before becoming Executive Director, Reggie was employed by the Mississippi State Fire Academy for fifteen years in positions ranging from instructor to Deputy Director.
Reggie’s twenty-eight years in fire and emergency response prepared him well for training others who choose this career path. His diverse background includes extensive experience as a fire fighter, fire investigator, and Director of Training and Safety with Starkville Fire Department. In addition, Reggie is the Commander of the Mississippi State Fire Academy Emergency Response Team, a unit which deploys for search and rescue missions in times of natural disaster in the state. The team has been called into action for events ranging from tornados to Hurricane Katrina. Fire fighters who enroll at the Mississippi State Fire Academy can be confident of receiving the best training possible under Reggie’s leadership.
